　　故事由魔戒持有者佛罗多展开，他在不知情的状况下继承了一枚戒指，却发现这枚戒指是魔王迟迟不能统治世界的关键。他也陷入了善恶双方争夺的处境中。几经波折，他才得知必须携带魔戒深入魔王的领土，才能在末日火山摧毁这一切邪恶的根源。
